I just moved back in with my mom. I was born 2 weeks early. my sister was 3 weeks early. we both weighed exactly six pounds seven and a quarter ounces when born. I was born on january seventh nineteen seventy six. she was born on february sixth nineteen seventy eight. Mom: I'm back for my two weeks. mom. who studied spanish while I was in the womb. I am here and completing my gestation. and you are studying spanish. what words can we have for the one who opened the door to the world? for the one who first showed us light? (and when I think of how I felt about you, it is how I felt about the world before I was born: like gazing into a light bigger than anything. sensing and preparing to touch a warmth and feeling infinitely soft and electric. the discovery of color. a time when I loved everything because everything was love.)
